The "Special One" has Made a Mistake! - Will Chelsea Win The Premiership on the Last Day of the Season Asks Cantor Spreadfair

LONDON, August 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Cantor Spreadfair, the world's first sport spread betting exchange and part of Cantor Index Ltd, questions whether Jose "Special One" Mourinho has let his halo slip. The infallible manager may have made a mistake.

Mourinho's prediction is that Chelsea will win the Premiership at Newcastle on May 7th.

Early trading on the Premiership Points Market on Cantor Spreadfair suggests that Chelsea will be 7 or 8 points better than the next best team and that Jose Mourinho has made a mistake in predicting a last day of the season title victory at Newcastle.

Judging by bets taken, the Blues could win the Premiership at Blackburn on April 22nd making their home game against Man Utd and their last game at Newcastle irrelevant.

The Premiership Points Market is currently stable at 86.2 - 86.4 pts for Chelsea, 78.4 - 78.8 pts for Arsenal, and 78.5 - 78.6 pts Man Utd, meaning the Blues will be home and dry before the last day.

Generally outspoken with regard to the quality of his team, Mourinho appears to be more modest this time than the market suggests. Maybe he is aware of the difficulty of retaining the Premiership or perhaps his debut season behaviour was an uncharacteristic blip in the life of a quiet, reserved man.

At the other end of the table, there is very little optimism for the newly promoted teams who are currently trading as favourites for the drop in the Premiership Relegation Index. West Brom has seen a bit of trade on their demise, but the new boys' stay will be short-lived if the market is to be believed.

Cantor Spreadfair has also introduced "Player Total Goals" traded throughout the season on some of the top players, with Gerrard already been supported to score more than the 9.8 - 10.3 being currently quoted. Frank Lampard is available at 10.5 - 10.8 and therefore favourite to outscore his England midfield partner in this World Cup season.

Another new market on Cantor Spreadfair is "Out with the Old", which looks at how many Premiership managers will get their marching orders in the course of the season. According to the market 4.8-5.1 managers will get the push, probably just after a vote of confidence from the board!

Moving on to the opening day, the Champions' first match is away at Wigan Athletic who are not short of a bob or two, but seem reluctant to spend it. This is not necessarily reflected in the Chelsea supremacy quote of 1.70 - 1.76, due to Chelsea's propensity to be satisfied with 1-0 and 3 points.

Cantor Spreadfair, where spread punters bet against each other instead of using a spread bookie, provides a reliable prediction as the market levels are set by individual users and do not take into consideration a position based on internal opinion or a desired result for a bookmaker. The market finds its own level.

Just like the fixed odds betting exchanges such as Betfair and Betdaq, Cantor Spreadfair is causing quite a stir, as the spreads are considerably narrower than with established spread betting players therefore offering better value. Users can also post two-way prices and make and trade markets themselves.
